ER Registration Clerk, Full-time – Posted 09/18/17

Responsibilities:

  • Current Schedule for Full-Time Position: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 9 am – 9 pm, schedule subject to change. PRN position hours vary. This position is the first point of contact for patients, business partners, vendors and other employees.  A pleasant, professional, polished presence with the ability to troubleshoot and direct inquiries to the appropriate parties is required.  Position is responsible for completing Emergency Department patient registration activities, performs clerical and reception duties as assigned. Ensures all inquiries are answered to the customer’s satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Prescribes, coordinates and evaluates total nursing care of patients using established nursing practices in the immediate post anesthesia and/or post-operative stage, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary and other patient care personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Must be willing to work week nights and weekends.

Position Summary:

  • The Social Worker is an essential member of the Black River Medical Center’s interdisciplinary team. They will work in concert with doctors, nurses and allied health professionals to sensitize other team members to the social and emotional aspects of a patient’s illness. The social worker will utilize case management skills to help patients and their families address and resolve the social, financial and psychological problems related to their health condition.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                           

  • Planning and providing social service in medical facility setting.
  • Initial screening and evaluation of patient and families;
  • Comprehensive psychosocial assessment of patients;
  • Helping patients and families understand the illness and treatment options, as well as consequences of various treatments or treatment refusal;
  • Helping patients/families adjust to hospital admission; possible role changes; exploring emotional/social responses to illness and treatment;
  • Educating patients on the roles of health care team members; assisting patients and families in communicating with one another and to members of health care team; interpreting information;
  • Educating patients on levels of health care (i.e. acute, sub-acute, home care); entitlements; community resources; and advance directives;
  • Facilitating decision making on behalf of patients and families;
  • Employing crisis Intervention;
  • Educating hospital staff on patient psychosocial issues;
  • Promoting communication and collaboration among health care team members;
  • Coordinating patient discharge and continuity of care planning;
