Created through a partnership between Poplar Bluff Medical Partners and Saint Francis Healthcare System, Black River is a community-owned, 3 bed not-for-profit hospital focused on providing the highest quality of care. The hospital was designed by local physicians and healthcare professionals to provide Poplar Bluff residents a choice for inpatient hospitalization and emergency care, and imaging services. A group of 39 physicians formed Poplar Bluff Medical Partners in 2001 to provide high-quality, affordable care locally. Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau is a partner with the local physicians in Poplar Bluff Medical Partners.
Black River Medical Center provides emergency services and diagnostic imaging services. The hospital treats short-stay illnesses, such as dehydration, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, simple pneumonia, diabetes, hypertension and much more. Black River Medical Center’s Emergency Department will treat those that need immediate medical attention. If a patient comes to our Emergency Department and it is determined that their condition is beyond the scope of care of Black River Medical Center, we will stabilize them, then transfer to a higher-level-of-care facility.
